The Cape Coral Power Squadron Safe Boating Course
America's Boating Course:
A Safe Boating Course consisting of
five 2 hour evening classes held from 6:45 to 9:30 pm on the second, third
and fourth Wednesday and third and
fourth Monday of each month, excluding July, August and December.
A certificate issued on course completion verifies that the student meets state educational requirements for power boat operators. A Florida state ID card will also be issued on successful completion of this course.
America's Boating Course covers the basic knowledge you need to safely and legally operate your boat, such as basic boating terminology, boat handling, water sports safety, PWCs, legally required equipment and other boating laws and regulations, right-of-way rules between boats, and marine radio operation. The course includes three main sections:
The
charge for this class is $45 ($20 for additional students using the same course
material) and pre registration is required.
NOTE: Anyone born on or after January 1, 1988 who operates a vessel powered
by 10 horsepower or more must pass an approved boater safety course and have in
his/her possession photographic identification and a boating safety education
identification card issued by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation
Commission.
